Born October 10, 1982. He was adopted as a child and raised in Croydon (Surrey, now a large area of London). While still in school, he became interested in theater, from the age of 15 he spent summer holidays studying at the studio of the National Youth Theater in London. He studied English literature at Emmanuel College (Cambridge). In 2004 he began his professional acting career, receiving the role of Orlando in the touring play "As You Like It" (directed by Peter Hall). In 2006 he played in the TV series "The Line of Beauty". In 2012, he and his family moved to New York to star on Broadway in The Heiress opposite Jessica Chastain and David Strathairn.
